KAPPA NUMBER
Purpose of the test
This test is performed to determine the Kappa number of a paper, solid board or folding board.
ISO 302 specifies a method for the determination of the Kappa number of pulp. Paper is used for CEPI-CTS samples because ISO 9706 “Information and documentation – Paper for documents – Requirements for permanence” prescribe the use of ISO 302
Procedure
Determine the KAPPA number to the neareast 0,1.
Report 2 measures, their mean and standard deviation calculated to 3 significant figures.

Tthe package contains about 30 g of paper. This quantity is sufficient for two measurements and possibly for one or two additional tests in case of need

Reporting
