HELIOTEST

Purpose of the test

This test is performed to determine the gravure prinatbility or smoothness of paper, solid board or folding board by measuring the position of the 20th missing dot in the Heliotest print.

Procedure

Operate the instrument in accordance with IGT W41 and the manufacturer’s instructions.

Leave the samples exposed for 24 h to 23°C and 50% R.H., according to ISO 187.

Set the printing speed (constant) to 1,0 m/s.

Set the printing pressure to 450 N.

Measure the distance of the 20th missing dot on the marked side of 10 test pieces with the marking in the clamp.

Use IGT Heliotest ink not older than 6 months.

Report 10 measures in mm, their mean and standard deviation calculated to 3 significant figures.
